When you think about the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC automatically comes to mind. And, given that Atlanta will soon host Super Bowl LIII at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 3, 2019, the stadium definitely brings thoughts of tailgating, partying, eating, hanging out with friends, and watching the “big” game.
Kennrod students recently visited the stadium as a part of our focus on college and career readiness. You may be thinking that doesn’t sound as exciting as a game day experience, but our students had a great time. Students took part in a behind the scenes tour based on promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). They learned about careers that are directly connected to the Georgia Department of Education’s Career Clusters and Pathways Courses including: architecture and construction; arts, AV/technology, and communications; hospitality and tourism, and more.
The tour guides at Mercedes-Benz Stadium did a great job connecting with the students and proving detailed information about how the employees and vendors prepare for the game day experiences. The end of the tour included playtime on the football/soccer field, visits to the Gullwing Club and the Falcons and United player locker rooms, and lunch at Molly B's.
When Kennrod students think about the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, they will think about the opportunity they had to actually experience it behind the scenes….that’s pretty special!
