Our Mission

Our mission is to provide high-quality tutoring services to pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade students in under-served communities.

As we support our students, we are also reminded of the critical role that parents play in helping their child excel; therefore, Kennrod is committed to empowering parents through educational resources and activities aimed at strengthening families for years to come.

Our Beliefs

  • Every parent/guardian want the very best for their child; therefore, they deserve to have the necessary tools to help their child prepare for college, career, and life.

  • Every school, neighborhood, and the greater community thrives when children are achieving academically.

  • Student success can be achieved through the collective efforts of students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and community partners.

Our Motivation

Have you ever seen a child struggle academically and said to yourself, if only he/she could read, write, and do math successfully?  If you answered “yes”, you now understand why Kennrod exists.  We want to help remove barriers to student learning and join parents in their efforts to help their child succeed in school and in life.

Our Story

It gives me such joy to share Kennrod with you!

“Kenn” represents my second child, Kennedy.  Kennedy died in 1999 at 7 months old due to complications from a birth defect known as Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum or ACC.  "Rod" represents my first husband, Rodney.  Rodney was shot and killed in 2000 while working as a hotel manager during a robbery.  He was 36 years old.

On December 15, 2016, Kennrod was established as a Georgia-based, nonprofit organization.  We exist to honor the memories of Kennedy and Rodney, as well as to provide educational and career-focused opportunities for students in underserved communities.  We believe education and exposure to a variety of people, places, and opportunities can make a positive difference in helping our students achieve success in school and in life.

We appreciate you for helping us carry out our mission and for being a contributing factor in making the world a better place.

Yours truly,

Kelley Castlin-Gacutan, Ed.D
