Fall Matters

After such a hot and rainy summer, it is very nice having more sunshine and cooler weather. I must admit, fall is my favorite season. I enjoy seeing the colored leaves and feeling more comfortable outdoors.

Last Friday, the weather was beautiful and I was super excited about Kennrod having its first field trip with students since prior to the pandemic. We took 21 students to Zoo Atlanta. We were able to see various exhibits including snakes, gorillas, lions, meerkats, lizards, elephants, giraffes, and more. Students visited the gift shop, bought snacks, and enjoyed one another in a fun environment. We are definitely looking forward to more experiences such as this as the school year continues.

I want to let you know of other plans that are underway for Kennrod:

  • Live-streaming sessions have become a great way for us to stay connected to our students and the greater community. Sessions may be viewed via Facebook on Wednesdays at 10:00am. The upcoming sessions are as follows: October 20- Carlin Hartman (Assistant Basketball Coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas); November 17- Iman Blow (2021 Olympic Alternate with USA Fencing).

  • Join us for our 5th Year Anniversary Virtual Fundraising Event on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 4:00-5:30pm. (Tickets are now available on our website via the "5th Year Anniversary" tab.) The event will be a time to celebrate the work that has been done in carrying out our mission to support students and families. We will have special guests, prizes, entertainment and more.

The pandemic has definitely shown many of us how things can change so rapidly and that life as we know it can become uncertain. I encourage you to make the most of each day. Enjoy your family, friends, and people around you. Spend time taking in the sunshine and being outdoors.

Happy Fall!

Kelley
